TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – The No. 8/11 Florida State Seminoles (24-4, 12-2) play host to the Pittsburgh Panthers (13-14, 4-10) on senior night at the Donald L. Tucker Center on Thursday at 7 p.m.
With a career record of 102-29 (.779), the five-member senior class of Gabby BevillardBrittany BrownKai JamesLeticia Romero and Ivey Slaughter is the winningest class in program history.
A win over Pittsburgh on Thursday would give the current senior class an undefeated record against four ACC teams (pending the ACC Tournament): Pitt (4-0 with a win), Clemson (7-0), Boston College (4-0) and Virginia Tech (5-0).
FSU’s current senior class boasts a 49-19 record (.721) against ACC opponents, including ACC Tournament play.
A win over Pittsburgh on Thursday would secure at least a No. 2 seed in next week’s ACC Tournament. No matter the result of league leader Notre Dame’s Thursday matchup vs. Boston College, a win by the Seminoles against Pittsburgh would set up an ACC championship game for the league’s regular season title on Sunday at No. 5/4 Notre Dame at 1 p.m. on ESPN2.
Florida State goes for its 13th win in ACC play on Thursday.  While the ACC has mostly implemented a 16-game conference schedule (it was 14 games from 2005-11), FSU could reach win No. 13 for the third time ever. Not surprisingly, the previous two times have come in 2014-15 (14-2) and 2015-16 (13-3).
After setting a program mark in 2015-16 by staying in the Associated Press Top 15 for the entire season, this year’s group is looking to top that feat. The lowest FSU has been ranked by the AP is 12th, and has been ranked in the Top 10 for 14 consecutive weeks. FSU also has spent two weeks in the Top 5.
The Seminoles have won four consecutive senior games, and nine of their past 12. The four-game win streak includes a 72-71 win over No. 9 Maryland (Feb. 28, 2013), an 82-70 win over Virginia (March 2, 2014), a 72-52 win over NC State (Feb. 26, 2015) and a hard-fought 70-67 win over No. 17 Miami (Feb. 28, 2016).
Senior point guard and All-America candidate Leticia Romero has enjoyed a strong career against Pittsburgh. In two games, she is averaging 18.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and shooting 62.5 percent (15-of-24) from the floor.
Florida State will look to utilize an advantage inside against Pitt on Thursday night. Against ACC teams this season, the Seminoles have outscored their conference foes 494-340 (35.3-24.3), owning a points in the paint margin of +11.0 per game.
Brown recorded her 300th career steal last game vs. Clemson, making her the 19th ACC player ever to amass that many steals. She now has 301.
Romero is one 3-point field goal away from her 100th, which would make her the 12th Seminole with triple-digit 3-point field goals made.
Slaughter ranks in the Top 10 in the ACC in three key categories: Offensive rebounds (fifth), free throw percentage (eighth) and field goal percentage (eighth).
