K-State Athletics
MANHATTAN, Kan. – In its final warm-up game before the start of the regular season next week, the Kansas State women’s basketball team needed a late run to pull away from Alaska-Anchorage, 73-65, Friday night at Bramlage Coliseum.

Senior Katya Leick led all scorers, as she tallied a double-double with 24 points on 11-of-17 shooting, and 12 rebounds. Freshman Leticia Romero reached double figures for the second straight game, as she added 15 points and nine rebounds. Sophomore Bri Craig joined Leick and Romero in double digit scoring with 11.

The Seawolves controlled the tempo, as the visitors led for all but 75 seconds in the opening stanza. Despite the early shooting troubles, K-State finished the half shooting 11-for-38 (28.9%) and only trailed by four at the break, 37-33. Romero paced the Wildcats with nine points while Craig chipped in eight.

In the opening stages of the second half, Leick pushed K-State into the lead with 12 straight points by to give the Wildcats a 47-44 edge with 15:09 left in the game. Both teams battled back-and-forth, with neither team able to build a lead larger than four points. After a Kiki Robertson jumper tied the game for UAA at 62 points apiece, a Leick jumper and a Romero steal and layup sparked a game ending 11-3 run for the Wildcats.
K-State used their size to their advantage, outrebounding UAA, 52-35, including 25 offensive rebounds.

Jessica Madison led the Seawolves with 15 points, while Robertson added 14 and Kansas City, Kan., native Kylie Burns finished with 11 points and seven rebounds.
