ACC PLAYERS AND COACHES TO PARTICIPATE WOMEN’S BASKETBALL NATIONAL MEDIA DAY


Florida State’s Romero, Louisville’s Walz and Notre Dame’s McGraw and Turner to be featured

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Four representatives from Atlantic Coast Conference women’s basketball programs will participate in the Women’s Basketball National Media Day hosted by the NCAA and ESPN on Tuesday, Nov. 1.

Head coaches Muffet McGraw of Notre Dame and Jeff Walz of Louisville, along with Florida State’s Leticia Romero and Notre Dame’s Brianna Turner will take part in the event held on ESPN’s campus in Bristol, Connecticut.

The quartet will take part in many interviews across various ESPN linear and digital platforms, including SportsCenter and espnW. 

In addition to exposure through the numerous ESPN platforms, additional breakout interviews with the participants will be conducted by regional and national media agencies that will also be in attendance at ESPN’s headquarters in Connecticut.

McGraw and Walz join four other coaches on ESPN’s campus on Tuesday, with Connecticut’s Geno Auriemma, UCLA’s Cori Close, South Carolina’s Dawn Staley and Texas’ Karen Aston also in attendance. Romero and Turner are included among the six student-athlete participants at the event. Tennessee’s Diamond DeShields, Ohio State’s Kelsey Mitchell, Washington’s Kelsey Plum and South Carolina’s A’ja Wilson join the ACC duo at ESPN’s headquarters. 

For the 15th-consecutive year, ESPN and ESPN2 will broadcast all 63 games of the 2017 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship. This marks the 22nd-consecutive year (since 1996) ESPN is the championship’s exclusive television home.

The ACC had five teams earn berths in the 2016 NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship, including Florida State, Louisville, Miami, Notre Dame and Syracuse. The Orange advanced to its first-ever women’s Final Four following NCAA Tournament wins over Army, Albany, South Carolina and Tennessee. The ACC has had a team in the women’s Final Four three straight years.
